Towards an index of biodiversity potential: example in an anthropised and fragmented landscape matrix

Promoting biodiversity is a major issue in urban planning. Estimating the potential of patches landscape matrix often uses tools spatial analysis and ecology indices, especially large study areas. In this paper, we present construction composite index (CBPI) based on structural functional approaches ecology. The CBPI composed eight indices (quality: permeability, fragmentation, environmental management; shape: size, shape complexity; configuration: contrast between neighbouring patches, distance to most favourable habitats, from built-up areas). appears be suitable for anthropised fragmented matrices. It can used identify ecological networks an ‘Avoid, Reduce, Compensate’ approach readily updated with new map databases.
